I would like to take this time to thank you all for a great 2013 and welcome in 2014. This new year is going to bring some exciting changes and opportunities for everyone.
We were able to save our clients a lot of suspension time this year, suspension time that would have been served needlessly. My favorite part of the day is calling up someone who recently hired me to tell them their license is restored. We saw a lot of the same issues this year with the most common situation stemming from an indefinite suspension that later results in a traffic stop where the driver learns of a license suspension. Then this driver find out that being found guilty of a ticket for 1543 results in a year or more of license suspension. In those situations a prompt reply to a court or to PennDOT is important to stop a license suspension or to apply for the limited work license.
We also saw continued issues where credit was not given for suspension time because a surrender of a license to a police officer or a judge in court did not result in the proper acknowledgement. Either the license was not surrendered properly or the driver’s license just vanished before it got to PennDOT.
I am happy to report we could fix just about every one of those problems by getting credit for past suspension time and tracking down who had the physical license. Some of the issues took hearings and sometimes it only took a written petition to get the PennDOT powers to see where the breakdown was. In all cases it is a good feeling to correct the problems and get these people driving again.
On a more personal note a few of us lost loved ones in the past year. Mothers, Grandmothers, aunts/uncles, and close friends will be remembered and missed eternally. We are a small family so every loss hit each of us, but we are there for each other.
Each of our children grew another year older and I am still fascinated watching them grow and learn and teach. Seeing the world through a young childs view has taught me so much, and reminded me about my own childhood.
Have a happy and safe New Years all! See you in 2014!
